Huntingdon College is a coeducational liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, United States. It was founded in 1854. Huntingdon today offers more than 20 undergraduate programs of study and 15 NCAA-III intercollegiate athletic teams that participate in the USA South Athletic Conference. Between 2002 and 2012, enrollment jumped by 53% in the traditional day program and 88% overall (594 to 1118), prompting the Chronicle of Higher Education to list Huntingdon among its 2014 list of "Fastest Growing Colleges in America."

Jacksonville State University is a regional public coeducational university located in Jacksonville, Alabama, United States. The university was founded as Jacksonville State Normal School, and in 1930 the name changed to Jacksonville State Teachers College, and again in 1957 to Jacksonville State College. The university began operating as Jacksonville State University in 1967. In 2008, the university celebrated its 125th anniversary.JSU currently has an enrollment of nearly 9,000 students, with nearly 500 faculty members (more than 320 of whom are full-time). The University of South Alabama, officially nicknamed "South" is a public, national research university in Mobile, Alabama, United States. It was created by the Alabama Legislature in May, 1963, and replaced existing extension programs operated in Mobile by the University of Alabama.
